Introduction
Alan Jackson Ended His Touring Career On May 17, 2025
In June 2024, the legendary Alan Jackson announced his Last Call: One More For The Road Tour. It included ten tour stops between August 2024 and May 2025.
While introducing the song, Jackson said, “This is a song I wrote quite a few years ago when my daddy passed away. I wanted to write a song for him; I didn’t want to write some old crying-dying typical kind of thing, you know? When I started thinking about growing up, all I ever wanted to do was drive something. He taught me all about that. That’s what this song is about.”
At the second to last show, Jackson’s grandsons were able to watch him perform for the very first time.
Jackson’s May 17th show was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, just nine days after the singer accepted the inaugural Alan Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award at the ACM Awards. After he performed his 22-song set on Saturday, the singer walked off stage for the last time, waving at fans who desperately did not want him to leave.
The arena was going wild for him, screaming at the top of their lungs for the country legend. As he was walking off stage, someone from his team walked beside him to help his balance. Jackson had to grab onto him a couple times.
Jackson Ended His Touring Career Because Of His Health Problems
In 2021, the “Livin’ On Love” singer appeared on the TODAY Show to reveal his diagnosis of Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT), which is a degenerative nerve disease with no cure.
He said, “It’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”
In March 2022, the “Drive” singer announced his tour One More For The Road and his team made sure he’d be as comfortable as possible. They built him a stand so he could lean against it while he was standing and performing, and brought out barstools when he needed to sit down. You can see him leaning against the stand in the video below.
He Made A Surprise Announcement At His Final Show
During his final touring show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jackson revealed that the concert wasn’t actually the last one of his career, just the last touring show of his career.
“This one is the last one out on the road for me. It’s been a sweet ride!”
